International Day of Veterinary Medicine

Every year, the International Day of Veterinary Medicine falls on December 9th. It’s a day to commemorate not only our amazing local veterinary teams who care for our dogs and cats, but also the veterinary medicine researchers, organizations, and pet health advocates who make the world a better place for both animals and their people.

Why We’re Thanking Our Veterinarians Today
Today, we’re thanking our veterinarians for being the voice of their patients who can’t tell us where it hurts, sharing our joy when our pets recover, and sharing our grief when our pets cross the rainbow bridge.
We’re also thanking the professional organizations that help our vets provide the best possible care for each and every animal.
Associations like the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) are constantly striving to improve diagnostics and treatments for pets, expand access to veterinary care, educate pet parents on preventative care and healthy lifestyle choices, and even make exams and procedures as comfortable and fear-free as possible for our pets.
Because our pets can’t say “thank you,” it’s our turn to speak up for them. Join us in thanking veterinarians for taking care of our very best friends, helping them live longer so we can enjoy as many healthy years as possible with our four-legged family members.

How To Thank Your Vet on the International Day of Veterinary Medicine
Your veterinarian, vet techs, nurses, and other staff love our pets as much as we do, even when our pets are grumpy and grouchy, even when they try to bite and scratch.
If you can, consider stopping by your vet today for a quick “hello,” and to thank the staff for their amazing work. You can send them a note of thanks, or even a holiday card with your pet’s photo would be sure to make their day.
As a pet parent, one of the easiest ways to show your vet and veterinary staff appreciation for their work is to continue taking your dog or cat’s annual wellness exams, and keep up with recommended lifestyle changes, follow up treatments, and preventative care. Your vet team loves, most of all, to see your pet at wellness check-ups when they’re feeling good and ready to be spoiled with treats and attention.
