Due to the risk of birth defects, it should also be avoided in pregnant, breeding, or lactating pets. Talk to your veterinarian to determine the accurate dosage for your pet. It is crucial to follow their exact instructions when administering Zonisamide to your pet. Do not stop giving Zonisamide suddenly and make sure to be consistent when giving your pet Zonisamide. Missed doses may trigger a seizure in your pet. Zonisamide Capsules can increase the level of acid in your pet's blood (metabolic acidosis). If left untreated, metabolic acidosis can cause brittle or soft bones (osteoporosis, osteomalacia, osteopenia) and kidney stones. Metabolic acidosis can occur with or without symptoms.
