About this product

What is Trifexis® (spinosad + milbemycin oxime)?

Trifexis (spinosad + milbemycin oxime) is the monthly, beef-flavored tablet prescribed to kill fleas and prevent flea infestations, prevent heartworm disease, and treat and control adult hookworm, roundworm and whipworm infection in dogs. Trifexis requires a prescription from your veterinarian.

For:

Dogs (8+ weeks of age, weighing 5+ lbs)

Benefits:

  • Choose the Trusted, Triple Parasite Protection of Trifexis (spinosad + milbemycin oxime)
  • Protect your patients from heartworm disease, fleas and intestinal parasites with Trifexis
  • Easy to administer, beef flavored tablet

How does Trifexis work?

Spinosad, an active ingredient in Trifexis, starts to work within 30 minutes to kill fleas and has been proven to kill 100% of all biting fleas within 4 hours. Trifexis prevents heartworm disease by killing microfilariae and larvae from maturing into adult heartworms.

Cautions:

Serious adverse reactions have been reported following concomitant extra-label use of ivermectin with spinosad alone, one of the components of Trifexis chewable tablets. Treatment with fewer than three monthly doses after the last exposure to mosquitoes may not provide complete heartworm prevention. Prior to administration, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection. Use with caution in breeding females. The safe use of Trifexis in breeding males has not been evaluated. Use with caution in dogs with pre-existing epilepsy. Puppies less than 14 weeks of age may experience a higher rate of vomiting. Consult your veterinarian for pregnant or lactating dogs.

Great product that really works!
I’ve been using Trifexis for a couple years now. In FL we have horrible fleas because of dry and heat. This really works, no more fleas. I don’t have to worry about her getting wet. And it covers her heart worms also. Only issue is she won’t chew the tablet, have to crush it up and mix with a little wet food and she’s good.

PetMeds is great....
Our Ruth has been on Trifexis for years. It works great. She'll be 13 in December. She's a Lab/Golden, 65 lbs. She doesn't care for the taste so we hide them in American Cheese. She'll do anything for cheese. Ha!

Poisonous to your dogs!!!
IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET DO NOT GIVE THEM THIS POISONOUS PRODUCT! It almost killed both of my dogs (small corgi and a large great pyrenees). They were both vomiting all over the house and lethargic. We switched to Nexgard Plus and its been great! I wish I would have read more reviews before purchasing Trifexus. It causes seizures and mobility issues also. Safe yourself the trouble!!!!

Breed Coonhound
Caused a Seizure
I did not purchaee from this site but from my vet. I had an otherwise very healthy black and tan coonhound who had been on Heartgard. I switched to Trifexis and within 10 mins she had her first seizure. My vet allowed me to return the remaining treatments and exchange for Heartgard. I have been following a group on Facebook and any dogs with any type of seizure or neurological issues should not be given certain preventive meds as well as the new Librela shot for arthritis and joint pain. Its a contraindication.
