Brewers Rice Nonsense
When I checked the top 5 ingredients of ZD Hills, I was horrified. Brewers Rice?!! 1# ingredient? Humans can't eat this, I'm not feeding it to my cat. Cats don't require or digest carbohydrates due to lack of amylase in their saliva. I'm not making my kitty sicker with secondary issues because of this inferior cat food. UGH where is the science?!!!

Saved my cats life!
My cats have been on this food for almost 2 years now and I can honestly say it's very much worth it. My oldest cat has a bunch of food allergies and the only thing he can eat is Hill's Z/D, we've tried RC and it didn't work for us since he still had an allergic reaction. Luckily all of my cats really like Z/D in both dry and wet, even the cats without allergies :)

This diet solved my cats mysterious vomiting episodes
At the beginning of 2024, my under 1yr old cat Pebble started to have episodes of vomiting bile and the only thing that temporarily helped was long acting steroid injections. To make matters worse, despite running numerous tests, the doctors couldn’t find a definitive reason why her intestines were so chronically inflamed. At one point, the inflammation was so bad they thought there was a foreign body (which turned out to be false after further review). It was hard seeing our fur baby repeatedly suffer from these episodes never knowing how long the relief from the injections would last. It was during her last visit to see the vet for this issue when she suggested we try a food trial with Hill’s z/d. Starting in the fall, our Pebble (and consequently our other cats), have been on this diet and so far there has been no more vomiting episodes. We’re still crossing our fingers that this is a more permanent fix for her issues however as of now it seems incredibly promising. All of our cats seem to like it and Pebble seems to be all around doing better. Hills is a great company that creates diets backed by science and extensive research. I know a lot of people might doubt changing foods or see their vet recommending a prescription diet as a frivolous and needlessly expensive treatment plan but in a good amount of cases, it helps tremendously, and being on a steady prescription diet that works is cheaper and less stressful in the long run then repeated vet visits, tests, and temporary fixes.

SKIN ALLERGIES
Our vet recommended ZD after running multiple tests in our cat for his problem of biting his skin and constant licking. We tried medication and ZD. It took about 2 months to heal, but here we are 2 years later and he still loves his food and doesn’t have the allergy problems anymore.

No more vomiting!!
Our cat was vomiting every time he ate and was losing weight until we tried the Food Sensitivities z/d diet. No more vomiting and he’s gaining his weight back. We have three cats all with special dietary needs and this food works for each of them. My only complaint is the cost/size of bag. With three cats we go through the largest bag (8.5 lbs) in no time. I feel like a larger bag could be offered at a better price per ounce. Our cats have always been on speciality foods with a different manufacturer and this is the most costly food they’ve ever been on. Wish the company would consider a larger bag for multiple cat families.

Solved my cats vomiting issues
About a year ago my two cats started having weird reactions to their usual dry food, then started hiding and vomiting. Some very expensive vet visits later, the z/d dry food was prescribed to them. Both cats have stopped vomiting, their coats are super soft, and they run around like their usual fluffy demon selves again. This is a bit expensive for cat food, but it prevents future vet visits. These are my first pets and I've had them since they were both 1 month old, so the cost is worth it to me. They really like the dry food, but aren't as keen on the wet food version in this flavor for some reason.

Cat Rejects 2 of 3 bags due to quality issues
For the past 6 months we have been sending bags back to the Vet. The good bags have dark brown - like dark chocolate colored kibble. The bags rejected by Yoshi (Siberian Cat 13 years old) are lighter brown like milk chocolate. Rejected M0610811 LS340 , M2010727 KG 051. Good = M30111824 BM 030. The best by August 2025 is good and July and September 2025 are bad. No pattern except that the bad batches outnumber the good 2:1. This is driving me and my cat crazy
