FURminator Undercoat deShedding Tool for Short Hair Cats Directions:
- It is recommended that you use the FURminator Undercoat deShedding Tool 1-2 times a week for 10-20 minutes each session. You may need to use the deShedding Tool more frequently during heavy shedding seasons.
- Before each use, you will want to read the deShedding Tool instructions completely.
- Your dog or cat should be free of mats and tangles before you begin.
- You should use the FURminator Undercoat deShedding Tool in the direction of hair growth, typically starting at the base of the neck and brushing to the tail.
- It is important to use the deShedding Tool methodically over the entire pet, avoiding one area for an extended period of time.
- The ears and tail are typically sensitive areas for most pets, so extra caution will need to be taken when brushing these areas. Since the ears and tail typically mat easily, we advise to check for and remove mats and tangles before using the deShedding Tool.
- With regular use, you should see a reduction in the amount of mats and tangles that form in the ears and tail because you are removing the undercoat that gets caught in the topcoat causing mats to form.
Unlike brushing and combing, deShedding is done to remove the loose, dead undercoat from the pet without cutting or damaging the topcoat when used as directed. Undercoat deshedding reduces the shed hair in all pets and also can help reduce hairball formation in cats.

How do I take care of undercoat deShedding tools?
- Brush your pet before using the undercoat deShedding tool to remove any mats or tangles. Using the tool on matted or tangled fur can bend or break the teeth, as well as feel uncomfortable for the pet.
- Be careful not to drop or place the undercoat deShedding tool where it can fall, as it may result in damage to the tool’s teeth
- The deShedding edge can be cleaned with warm water and a mild soap if necessary. Cleaning can reduce the feeling of a dull edge by reducing dander collection on the teeth of the deShedding edge. Dry the undercoat deShedding tool completely before storing.
- The FURminator undercoat deShedding tool has an Edge Guard around the deShedding edge, so the tool does not require a cap when stored. Simply press down the FURejector® button and pull towards you to lock the Edge Guard into place, protecting the deShedding edge.
