Vet Review | Coming soon | Belonging to the latest generation of flea/tick parasiticides(known as Isoxazoline medications), these palatable, beef flavored chewable tablets kills fleas quite effective, with most adult fleas being killed within 8 hours. One of the downsides, as compared with Vectra 3D is that Credilio does not repel either fleas or ticks, and has no effect on biting mosquitoes, which are the main vectors that transmit heartworms to dogs. Credilio and products of its class are one of the most effective products against several species of severe disease transmitting ticks, including ones that transmit Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Anaplasmosis, which have been increasing in incidence in recent years. As with other members of this drug class, we have also used this drug in treatment and prevention of both demedex mites and scabies mites, although this is an off label use. Giving with a full meal reduces risks of digestive reaction. Overall the tablet is well tolorated, but occasional diarrhea, vomiting or digestive upset is seen. I would look to one of the other products like Vectra 3D, if there is a history of significant neurologic disease or seizures. I give this product an overall rating of a 4 out of 5. | Coming soon |
