Vet Review | I recently completed a small clinical trial using the Flea 3X topical product for cats. And I must say that the initial reports on the safety and efficacy of this product has been excellent. With the main ingredient being the tried and tested fipronil, this product is very effective in controlling fleas, ticks and chewing lice. Clients have loved the economic savings of this generic alternative product to Frontline. It is also manufactured exclusively in the United States, as well as carrying the trustworthy and reliable 1-800-PetMeds brand on the packaging and label. Thus far, clients have reported back that fleas and ticks are killed very rapidly, and that protection lasts for up to several weeks. I therefore can highly recommend this product to all of the feline guardians as a wonderful and economic alternative to more expensive topical products on the market. | I recently completed a small clinical trial using Flea 4X topical product for dogs in my veterinary clinic. And I must say that the initial reports on efficacy and safety has been excellent. With the main ingredient being the tried and tested fipronil, this product is very effective in controlling fleas, ticks, chewing lice and mosquitoes. It is also labelled to control mites that cause sarcoptic mange in dogs as well. This product is a wonderful generic alternative to the Frontline product that has been out for years. Clients have loved the economic savings of this product over similar topical flea and tick preventatives. It is manufactured exclusively in the United States, as well as having the trustworthy and reliable 1800petmeds label on the packaging. It is also water proof for those canine patients who spend a lot of time outside and/or swimming during the summer months. Clients are reporting back to me quick flea and tick killing that lasts up to several weeks in treated pets. I highly recommend this product to those canine guardians seeking out an effective and economic alternative to similar products on the market. | This wonderful product whose flea and tick efficacy DIRECTLY ON CONTACT is based on topical permethrin which damages theses pests nervous systems, and when applied is effective, gentle on most dogs, long lasting (up to 6 weeks with most species of ticks)(5 weeks with fleas)(up to 4 weeks for dog lice and mites), and is very easy to apply, in addition to being economical and available without a prescription from your vet. It is safe enough to use on puppies over 4 weeks of age, but a consultation with your vet should be done before starting especially if your pet is old or has a chronic disease. . It also kills and repels mosquitoes as well. The major disadvantage with this product (unlike others like Frontline) is that it cannot be used on cats or near cats because of the permethrins in it. It is also marginally water soluble, and thus if your dog swims frequently it may need to be applied as often as every 2 weeks, which is off label use, but will last up to one month in those dogs not frequently bathed or who swim often. The rare side effects I have seen are usually mild, mainly being redness or hair loss of the skin where applied, and sometimes lethargy, vomiting or drooling if application spot is licked at. These however are not common in my experience. |
