Does it have long-term side effects? | In target animal safety studies, EtoGesic Tablets were well tolerated clinically when given at the label dosage for periods as long as one year. | Laboratory studies in anesthetized dogs and clinical field studies have demonstrated that carprofen is well tolerated in dogs after oral administration. | The vast majority of patients with drug related adverse reactions have recovered when the signs are recognized, the drug is withdrawn, and veterinary care, if appropriate, is initiated. Owners should be advised of the importance of periodic follow up for all dogs during administration of any NSAID. |
Cautions | EtoGesic should not be used on cats or pregnant or nursing animals. EtoGesic can increase the risk of serious effects of the stomach and intestines, including bleeding or perforation. At the first sign of anything abnormal, stop using EtoGesic and call your veterinarian. | Contact the veterinarian if the pet has bloody, black or tarry stools, blood in vomit, or swelling or rapid weight gain due to fluid retention. Do not use on cats. | Do Not Give To Cats |
What are Customers saying Pros | Destiny has been on this product 14 of her 16 years due to a rare swelling of her paw. Now that she is older, it really takes the edge off. Wish more vets would reccomend it, just safer for the animals | My poor old Lady and I share problems getting up and down ... the Novox has really helped her. Wish I could take some! (Just kidding, of course.) It really has made a difference in her mobility - and her disposition. Thanks! | Our 11 year old Beagle was born with a left shoulder, joint deformity. AS she advanced in years, difficulity in walking resulted. Previcox restored normal joint movement and walking in two days. |
What are Customers saying Cons | - | ...will not take Novox...I don't know if it has a bitter taste..."...may cause kidney failure. | After one day of taking it he started vomiting and had severe diarrhea... |
Vet Recommendations | Currently under review | Currently under review | Previcox is another effective prescription nonsteroidal anti inflammatory medication that has found favor among many veterinarians in recent years. Supposedly more friendly on the liver and kidneys than some of the other non steroidal anti inflammatory medications it is especially helpful in managing arthritis and pain in middle age and older dogs. I have only rarely seen digestive tract reactions when using this product. I give this an overall ranking of a 4 out of 5. |
