Vet Review | FiproGuard is a generic equivalent to Frontline Top Spot. Fiproguard is not manufactured by the makers of Frontline Top Spot, but is EPA-approved for the sale in the USA. It is new to the market and not yet rated. | This similar product in cats offers many of the same benefits of the dog product in killing mosquitoes, fleas, ticks and lice within an hour. Like Flea4X Plus product, most of the parasites do not have the bite the pet to be effective and are killed on contact. This helps minimize risk of allergic contact reactions of the pet on exposure to these parasites. As with Flea4x Plus, I give this product an overall review of 4 with an efficacy and ease of use of a 4.5 | This product is a wonderful economic alternative for clients who have used the Frontline product. It contains the same exact main ingredient as Frontline, Fipronil, which has been probably the number one used flea and tick preventative ingredient by veterinarians over decades now. Not only does it kill fleas and many species of ticks that carry Lyme and other diseases, but also can help in controlling scabies mange mites, as well, in those cases. It certainly is a much cheaper alternative to Frontline or Advantage products. Some excellent advantages include it being waterproof, as well as being safe to use in pets as young as 8 weeks of age. There may be a rare skin irritation side effect at the site of application, but other reactions are even more rare. I have occasionally seen digestive upset with this product. I would also not use it in dogs with a history of chronic seizure disorders. Because of its long-term reliability and safety, I give this product an overall rating of a 4.5, with an ease of application of 4.5. |
