Apoquel is a selective janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor, which targets pruritogenic (itch creating) cytokines. It effectively controls itching due to food allergies, flea allergies, contact dermatitis, and atopic dermatitis. Apoquel works to control pruritus for fast-acting relief, and provides significant short-term and long-term reduction of itching and inflammation.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: Do not use Apoquel or Apoquel Chewable (oclacitinib) Tablets for Dogs in dogs less than 12 months of age or in dogs with skin infections. Apoquel Chewable (oclacitinib) Tablets for Dogs may increase the chances of developing serious infections, and may cause existing parasitic skin infestations or pre-existing cancers to get worse. Consider the risks and benefits of treatment in dogs with a history of recurrence of these conditions. Clinical studies and post-approval evaluations identified both benign and malignant neoplastic conditions. Apoquel Chewable (oclacitinib) Tablets for Dogss have not been evaluated for use alongside certain medications, including those frequently prescribed for skin conditions (like corticosteroids and cyclosporine.) Avoid using in dogs that are breeding, pregnant, or nursing. Common side effects include vomiting and diarrhea. Adverse reactions reported in a masked field study included diarrhea, vomiting, anorexia, new cutaneous or subcutaneous lumps, profuse salivation, and lethargy. In most cases, diarrhea, vomiting, anorexia, and lethargy spontaneously resolved with continued dosing.
